Nutritional Findings Show Pimp Juice as Safer Alternative to Competing Energy Drinks.
Current nutritional findings support that Pimp Juice, the energy drink from Superstar Artist Nelly, is a safer alternative compared to its competitors in the energy drink market.
Upon announcing the market success of Pimp Juice and its distribution expansion to other countries, Pimp Juice was notified of its nutritional advantages over competing products such as Red Bull. Pimp Juice has predominantly marketed itself as a straight energy drink, although there is a segment in the market place that uses energy drinks as a Âmixer with alcohol. Pimp Juice does not market its beverage as an alcohol mixer or suggest that it be used that way. However, nutritional findings (listed below) suggest that for consumers who use energy drinks as a mixer with alcohol, Pimp Juice is safer than most others. Following are the nutritional findings from Roger E. Adams, Nutritionist and Owner of eatrightfitness:
1 Carbonation speeds the absorption of alcohol. Pimp Juice is not carbonated; hence alcohol absorption will not be facilitated as it is with Red Bull.
2 Drinking alcohol greatly decreases blood glucose levels, so individuals should increase their intake of natural sugars  Pimp Juice has more natural sugars and carbohydrates than Red Bull. The additional carbohydrate in Pimp Juice should help maintain, or at least slow, the decrease of blood glucose levels.
3 Pimp Juice contains 250 mg of d-Ribose. This is a sugar responsible for the creation of the energy compound Adenosine Tri-Phosphate (ATP). D-Ribose will help metabolize alcohol similar to other natural sugars. Red Bull has no d-Ribose.
4 Fructose facilitates the breakdown of alcohol. Since Pimp Juice is apple-juice based, fructose concentration is higher than in Red Bull, whose primary carbohydrate is sucrose. Fructose comprises half of the sucrose molecule; however, by having more free fructose, Pimp Juice is a much better facilitator of alcohol metabolism than Red Bull.
5 The need for vitamin C during moderate alcohol consumption is increased. Pimp Juice has 100% of an individualÂs RDA for vitamin C. Red Bull contains no vitamin C.
6 Vitamin C also helps metabolize alcohol more efficiently. The 60 mg of vitamin C found in Pimp Juice helps break alcohol down faster, thereby reducing the time it stays in the blood stream.
7 B vitamins help metabolize alcohol more efficiently. Pimp Juice has higher levels of the B vitamins pantothenic acid, and riboflavin than Red Bull.
Adams concludes his findings by remarking, ÂIf an individual is going to choose an energy drink with the least deleterious effects when combined with alcohol, I believe Pimp Juice to be a far superior choice.Â
In addition to releasing two new albums in September, purchasing a portion of the Carolina Bobcats, and securing his first major motion picture role, NellyÂs energy drink Pimp Juice is reaching success benchmarks within the beverage industry! In its breakthrough quarter, Pimp Juice sold a million units and has been awarded the Peoples Choice of Best Energy Drink in the respected industry trade, BevNet, as well as being Vibe MagazineÂs best energy drink.
Pimp Juice is currently disseminated by 75 distributors in the United States, in 41 states and 125 markets. Complete national distribution is expected by August 2004. The success of Pimp Juice has been so quick that International distributors have requested to sell the 8.4 fluid ounce drink, which contains guarana, d-ribose and taurine as the main energy components. Fillmore Street Brewery reports Pimp Juice is already flying off the shelves in the United Kingdom, the Caribbean Islands, and Mexico, and projects the product to begin distribution in Europe and Asia by the end of Fall 2004.
Fillmore StreetÂs President, William Wooten, explains, ÂNelly and Fillmore Street knew we had developed a unique energy drink with multiple health and energy benefits. After the barrage of fan mail about using pimp juice as a mixer, we decided to investigate the safety aspects of mixing energy drinks with alcohol to determine how our energy drink compares to others in the market. We do not promote the mixing of energy drinks with alcohol, but weÂve found that a sector of the beverage market does participate in consuming this kind of combination. After learning the results of the nutritional report, we wanted our fans and customers to know that pimp juice is a better alternative if one chooses to use energy drinks as a mixer. Fillmore Street pledges to provide more research on the subject for the benefit of our customers and fans.Â
